1. Math
a. I learned about solving for x and
learned many great tricks like turning the x into a box and using “things” to
solve for the box.
b. 5x = 3x + 8 x = 4
c. 2x + 6 =10. To figure out this problem,
first I subtracted both numbers by four (10 – 6 = 4) 2x – 4 = 2x 6 – 4 = 2. X =
2
d. X – 7 = 11 x = 18
e. x/5 + 1 = 3 x = 10
f. 8x = 7x + 5 x=5
g. 6x + 1 = 2x + 5 x = 1
2. Science
a. I learned that Newton was a sizar in
college. He had to work for the college to pay for his education and food and
lodging.
b. Since pendulums did not arrive on the
scene until the mid 1600’s, during Isaac Newton’s childhood, people looked to
the sun to figure out what time it was.
c. For thousands of years water clocks,
burning ropes, and candle clocks all helped people keep track of time, you can
make a candle clock or a simple water clock o find out just how useful their
clocks were to people in the early days.
d. When Isaac Newton first attended
Cambridge University he acted as his own guinea pig and stared into the sun to
see what would happen … and he nearly blinded himself
e. Isaac Newton also did experiments to
correct a misperception that he had when he was a boy, His eyes told him that
the sun travels around the Earth therefore the Earth is center of our universe.
f. I made an optical illusion when I held a
pencil perfectly still perpendicular to the floor and stared at a straight
object, a window, then I shut one eye and then opened it and shut the other eye
multiple times and it looked like the pencil was jumping up and down!
g. There was another optical illusion that I
did where I held my eyes about a foot away and stared at my fingertips. I
slowly moved my hands closer to my eyes and it looked like I had an 11th
fingertip!

4. Language
a. To say what something is in Spanish, you
use the verb ser (to be). You don’t
have to use pronouns or little words like “it” or “they” because the verb
ending shows whether you are talking about one or two items. Es un despertador
It’s an alarm clock, Son flores They’re flowers.
b. All nouns in Spanish are either
masculine or feminine. The word “a” or “an” is either “un” for masculine nouns,
or “una” for feminine nouns. Un juego de computadora. A computer game and Una
guitarra a guitar.

esta and esa.

6. Writing
Luna Lovegood is a wizard at Hogwarts School of witchcraft
and wizardry. She has light blonde hair that reaches her shoulders, and reminds
me of straw or hay because it is always tangled. Her blue eyes always look like
a cloudy sky because they frequently change the shade of blue depending on the
light. She has a very sweet sounding British accent that sounds like the way we
think a princess should sound. She dresses in odd clothes with unusual colors
and quite a bit of eccentric feathers and ruffles. She would be considered
short compared to some of her friends at Hogwarts. However, she is probably the
most generous and caring person ever.
7. Music
a. In piano today I learned the chords Bm over C and Fm
b. We did flash cards where we practiced the notes on bass
and treble class.
c. I learned easy tricks to remember F, G, A, B, and more
d. I practiced singing vowels, E, Aa, Ah, Oh, Oo
e. I song “Wouldn’t it
be Loverly” to see if it would work well for a contrasting song for my
audition in March.
f. I learned a way to smoothly go from high notes to low
notes t high notes again, like in Castle
on a Cloud. The trick is to raise your eyebrows on the high notes and when
you lower them slowly, move your voice with them.
g. I learned a new trick with the peddle on piano.
