Substitute teacher day. Sophie skated early this morning for almost four hours, working on her Showcase and preparing for her next testing session and competition this Spring. We're lucky because homeschool doesn't necessitate "snow day" and we are able to work on those cold, blustery days like yesterday and save our days off for the sunnier, warmer weather of our too-short Spring and Summer in Maine. But today was a "snow-removal day" for me and therefore a day that I "called a sub." So the day still counts for Sophie—she is working on school but there won't be a 5 x 5 today as planned but she's going to get almost everything else completed as planned on our calendar. She's watching one of my favorite movies, Disney's "Hook" with Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams while drawing, labeling, and coloring her Triangle trade map and a Class Pyramid cartoon/illustration. She also worked on coloring in a few more pages of her Gray's Anatomy coloring book. Later I will send her and Sophie outside to play in all the new, fresh snow!
Another lesson in homeschool: sometimes it's ok to just phone a day in.
Days 91, 92 to be posted soon.
