Today was a beautiful Spring day and we decided to visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. We also decided to just go and have fun without an assignment or prescribed plan--just a nice day at the garden. There weren't many other people there and we enjoyed time in the sun and seeing the new plants just beginning to burst out of the earth. Sophie spent some time drawing and writing, as did I, and Lily was wild and free with excitement.
Lily made a fast friend with a little girl named Darryl and her five brothers and sisters--one of which was a Lilly too! Soon Sophie joined in the fun of new friends and they all played wonderfully together building fantastic fairy houses and in the cave and treehouse. The Freeman family are also homeschoolers and it was such a pleasure to talk with Nicole, mother of six homeschooled children, about the joys and freedom of teaching our kids at home.
We had a lovely day and made nice, new friends and enjoyed Spring in Maine at the gardens! A fun, impromptu field trip for day One-Hundred and Forty-One!
