1. Math
a. I translated word problems into math
sentences: Kim started off with a lot of bracelets. After buying 3 additional
bracelets, she decided to share them all equally between herself and 9 friends
for the day. Let s = the number of bracelets she started off with. Write an
expression for how many each friend got.
Well if s = the number of bracelets, then the answer is s + 3/ 10
b. After doubling the money in her bank
account Trudy spent 5$ on music downloads, s = the money of how many dollars
she has now. 2s – 5 dollars now.
c. A fraction is ¼ of 4/5
f = ¼ x 4/5
d. Brittany loves frozen red grapes. They
taste like candy! She has a whole bowl of them. She eats five grapes and then
shares the rest equally herself and 5 friends. S + the number of frozen grapes
shared. S – 5/ 6 frozen grapes.
e. Chris had way too many text messages on
his phone and wanted to clear them out. He first deleted ten messages. And then
deleted half of what he had left. S = the number of text messages on his phone
now. S – 10/2
f. Sarah had a lot of ringtones in her
phone yesterday. But she kept adding
them, and today she has 9 more than twice of what she had yesterday. Y = the
number. 2y + 9 ringtones left.
g. This was hard yet fun to do.
2. Science
a. The Egyptians earliest calendar was
based on the phases of the moon.
b. Early Egyptians measured time by the
most obvious change in their lives, the flooding of the Nile.
c. Before long, Egyptians turned to

e. I learned that the Egyptians predicted

days around the earth, the length of a year, Sirius always appeared a day
before the flooding of the Nile so that helped the Egyptians a lot.
f. The Egyptians subdivided their years
into 12 months each 30 days, and the other 5 ½ days were for sacred holidays.
g. According to myth, Thoth, the god of
wisdom, won some of the moons light in a dice game.
3. History
a. Cleopatra’s position as queen was now
much stronger since Caesar supported her and the presence of his son.
b. In 46 BC Cleopatra visited Rome with her
husband/brother and her/ Caesars son.
c. Caesar was awarded a triumph for his
victory in Egypt.
d. Thebes was the Capital city of Egypt
during the New Kingdom, 1550 – 1070 bc.
e. The temple complex at Karnak was
dedicated to Amen, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu.
f. The construction of this temple took
2,000 years.
g. There is a whole avenue lined with
sphinxes it was built by Ramses II.

a.

5. Reading
a. what happened last in Kingdom Keepers, is
that Willa, Philby, Charlene, Maybeck, Finn, and Amanda who was at Finns house
and watched, went online to VMK and all talked about their dreams and if they
were feeling sick at all the same way Finn was today.
b. Since all the DHI’s went to bed at the
same time they ended up in the park together at the same time, which was what
Wayne wanted.
c. Wayne showed the DHI’s a secret elevator
in the castle with no walls, the elevator took them up to a small apartment
which was like a special safe place where the DHI’s could go if they were ever
in trouble.
6. Writing
a. In writing today I learned about cause
and effect, and reporting an event, I
wrote down three causes from a paragraph I read, and three effects from the
same paragraph.
b. Cause: A person made a 9-1-1 call.
c. Effect: The fire department made a run.
d. Cause: The caller had acted quickly.
e. Effect: The firefighters saved the
structure
f. Cause: An electric heater had faulty wiring.
g. Effect: The heater was the cause of the
fire.
