Day 163


7 x7 Seven Subjects & 7 things I learned Day 163

1.       Math

a. In math today I solved for x.

b. I learned a whole big process to solve for x, Danica calls it unwrapping the problem, first what you do is find out was put in the problem last and then subtract it from both sides.

c. (x + 2)/5 + 1 = 3

Answer: x = 8

d. 2(x – 6) = -18

Answer: x = -3

e. (x – 4)/ 2 = 1

Answer: x = 5

f. 3(x – 5) – 2 = 7

Answer: x = 8

g. (x + 1)/3 + 2 = 3

Answer: x = 2

 

2.       Science

a. In Science today I learned about Ancient Egyptian Medicine. Some of the Pharaohs doctors were, The “Palace Eye Physician” and the” Palace Stomach-Bowel Physician.”

b. The Egyptians had the best medical knowledge in the ancient world.

c. Embalmers took 70 days to prepare a body for burial, while wrapping the body they chanted many spells and prayers on each body.

d. I learned that after a person’s internal organs were removed during the process of mummification, they were stored in canopic jars.

e. Thousands of years ago the Egyptians used to chew castor berries to cure an upset stomach.

f. Early drugs were also made from many other plants and spices back then such as anise, cumin, and poppy flowers.

g. I saw a painting, in my book, of two Egyptian men making an herbal remedy; the painting is about 5,000 years old!

 

3.       History

a. Today in History I learned about Egyptian Art and Culture. The Egyptians created many fine works of art, including statues, wall paintings, and jewelry.

b. I learned that Hieroglyphs could be read either from left to right OR from right to left!

c. Papyrus was a plant that grew alongside the Nile. Their reeds were used to make a thin material also called papyrus, but it was the same idea of what is paper, today.

d. The woman of the Royal harem were talented musicians and dancers. They played, sang, and tried to entertain the King.

e. I learned that after Caesar died, Cleopatra befriended his very good friend Mark Antony, and gained peace with Italy once again.

f. I learned that rich woman of Egypt often put a large stick of butter on top of their heads, as the butter melted in the sun; it kept their wigs smelling sweet.

g. Cleopatra and Anton were constantly trying to outdo each other.

4. Language

a.!Ahora las princesas estan libres para ayudar a slavar reino! The princesses are now free to help save the kingdom.

b. Blanca Nieves llama a sus amigo del bosque para que luchen contra los guardias. Snow white calls her friend’s to the forest to help fight the guards.

c. Cenicieta usa su zapatilla de cristal como bumeran. Cinderella uses her glass slipper as a boomerang.

d. Hasta Bella Durmiente ayuda. Sleeping Beauty also helps.

e. Ella se cae dormida y les hace una zancidilla a los guardias. She falls asleep and trips the guards.

f. Los villanos luchan contra los amigos de los cuentos de hadas. The villlians fought their friends from the fairy tales.

g. Encantador ha capturado a Shrek. Shrek captured Charming.

 

5. Reading

a. In the last chapter I read the DHI’s remembered what Wayne said and when they met in the park, they met in Adventureland by the Native American Camp, they realized that when they went into a teepee, they became invisible because their DHI’s weren’t programmed to project inside the teepee’s.

b. When they were in the teepee, the DHI’s met the first Overtaker… Maleficent, good thing they were invisible otherwise they would have been in big trouble.
c. The DHI’s and Amanda met at the Wide World of Sports to discuss where they were going to meethat night. Finn met another character in the last chapter, a beautiful young girl called, Jez.

*I gave her a break and let her be done today. She's been working so hard and doing such an awesome job on all these 7 x 7s!
